WooCommerce is a free plugin that turns a WordPress site into a shop, on PHP and MySQL, with an extension for most things — many of the useful ones renewed every year. GoCommerce is one Go binary and a PostgreSQL database with vendors and B2B pricing in its core, and Svelte Commerce is a SvelteKit storefront that can already sit in front of a WooCommerce store. Neither side charges for the core.

KitCommerce is an open-source ecommerce platform. Its packages are GoCommerce, the backend and admin, and Svelte Commerce, the storefront — MIT licensed, used together or either one on its own. On this page, each claim names the package it is about.

Extension prices are WooCommerce.com’s rupee prices for a one-year plan on the day checked; a two-year plan saves 20%. The subscription buys updates and support for its term, so keeping them means renewing it.
Which one fits
Choose WooCommerce when
- Your site is already WordPress, and the shop is one part of it.
- You want an extension for almost anything, and would rather install or buy than build.
- Your team or agency works in PHP and WordPress.
- You need subscriptions, bookings or memberships now, from extensions Woo maintains itself.
Choose GoCommerce + Svelte Commerce when
- You would rather run one binary and PostgreSQL than WordPress, PHP, MySQL and a set of plugins that update separately.
- You want vendors and B2B price lists without an extension to renew each year.
- You want the commerce API to be the product — 342 documented operations, published as OpenAPI — not a plugin inside a CMS.
- You want to keep WooCommerce for now and put a server-rendered SvelteKit storefront in front of it.
What you take on
- You host it: a server, a PostgreSQL database, backups and upgrades are yours, or a developer’s you pay.
- No app store. What a module does not cover, somebody writes.
- GoCommerce has over 1,000 tests, but no store we know of runs it in production yet.
- Svelte Commerce reaches GoCommerce through an early connector, version 0.1.0: catalogue, cart, checkout and order lookup work; customer accounts and a search index do not.
- Svelte Commerce on WooCommerce has no shopper sign-in or wishlist yet: WooCommerce’s core has no sign-in endpoint for it to call.
- WordPress’s pages and posts stay behind. GoCommerce’s cms module adds store pages — about, terms, delivery — not a blog.
Moving from WooCommerce, or keeping it
Two paths, and the second keeps WooCommerce.
Move the backend: GoCommerce has no WooCommerce importer — its import modules cover Shopify and Amazon only — so a move is a script that reads WooCommerce’s REST API, /wp-json/wc/v3, and writes to GoCommerce’s documented one. Where a spreadsheet is the easier middle step, GoCommerce’s core imports products, orders and inventory from CSV in its own column layout.
Or keep WooCommerce and change only the storefront: Svelte Commerce’s WooCommerce connector wires 27 of its 43 services, cart and checkout among them. Shopper sign-in and wishlists are the gaps — WooCommerce’s core has no endpoint for sign-in — so a storefront with customer accounts needs that written first. Like every Svelte Commerce connector, it has not yet run against a live production store.

Is WooCommerce free?
The plugin is: WooCommerce is GPL and costs nothing, as GoCommerce and Svelte Commerce cost nothing under MIT. Many extensions on WooCommerce.com are paid yearly — Subscriptions is ₹26,749, Product Vendors ₹11,410 and Product Bundles ₹7,575 for a one-year plan — and hosting that meets its requirements is yours to pay for.
Can I keep WooCommerce and use Svelte Commerce as the storefront?
Yes. Svelte Commerce’s WooCommerce connector wires 27 of 43 services, cart and checkout among them. Shopper sign-in is not wired, because WooCommerce’s core has no endpoint for it, and wishlists are not either. No Svelte Commerce connector has been run against a live production store yet.
Which is easier to host?
GoCommerce asks for less: one Go binary and one PostgreSQL database. WooCommerce 10.8 and later wants WordPress 6.9+, PHP 8.3+, MySQL 8.0+ or MariaDB 10.6+ and a 256 MB memory limit, though Woo notes any server that supports PHP and MySQL will run it.
Does Razorpay work with both?
Yes. Razorpay’s official WooCommerce plugin is free on WordPress.org and takes cards, netbanking, wallets and UPI. GoCommerce has a Razorpay payments module. WooPayments, Woo’s own gateway, is not offered to businesses in India.
How do I move a WooCommerce store to GoCommerce?
By script. GoCommerce imports from Shopify and Amazon only; for WooCommerce you read its REST API and write to GoCommerce’s documented REST API, published as OpenAPI. Its core also imports products, orders and inventory from CSV in its own column layout.
