KitCommerce vs Dukaan
Dukaan is free to start and charges as you sell. GoCommerce is the other way round.
Dukaan gets a store online from the web or its Android and iOS apps, with a free plan — then takes a service fee of 0.99% to 4.99% of sales, by plan, on top of the payment gateway’s charge. GoCommerce and Svelte Commerce take nothing per sale, and ask for a server and a developer before the first one.

KitCommerce is an open-source ecommerce platform. Its packages are GoCommerce, the backend and admin, and Svelte Commerce, the storefront — MIT licensed, used together or either one on its own. On this page, each claim names the package it is about.

Dukaan’s fee against no fee
On Dukaan the plan is small and the service fee is the bill. Here is each plan at ₹5 lakh a month in sales, as 500 orders of ₹1,000, billed monthly.

Arithmetic from Dukaan’s plan table. Growth and Infinity cost the same at exactly this volume; above it, Infinity’s lower fee wins. The ₹200 cap bites only on large orders — on Growth, above about ₹10,050 an order. The gateway’s own charge is paid on both sides and left out; Razorpay lists 2% + GST. Dukaan’s FAQ, on the same page, quotes different rates for differently named plans; we have used the plan table.
Which one fits
Choose Dukaan when
- You want to start selling today for ₹0, from your phone, and pay only once sales come in.
- Your sales are small, so a few per cent of them costs less than paying someone to run a server.
- You want delivery, payments and the store in one place, with no code at all.
- You are testing a product idea and may not need a store in six months.
Choose GoCommerce + Svelte Commerce when
- Your sales have grown to where Dukaan’s fee is a real line — ₹10,949 a month at ₹5 lakh, on its cheapest plan for that volume.
- You want to change the checkout and the order flow, not only the theme.
- You want your store’s data in a database you control, under software with an MIT licence.
- You have, or can hire, a developer — the one cost GoCommerce cannot remove.
What you take on
- You host it: a server, a PostgreSQL database, backups and upgrades are yours, or a developer’s you pay.
- No app store. What a module does not cover, somebody writes.
- GoCommerce has over 1,000 tests, but no store we know of runs it in production yet.
- Svelte Commerce reaches GoCommerce through an early connector, version 0.1.0: catalogue, cart, checkout and order lookup work; customer accounts and a search index do not.
- No phone app to run the store from — the admin is a web app.
- No built-in delivery service: you bring your own Shiprocket, Delhivery or NimbusPost account.

Questions about Dukaan and GoCommerce
Does Dukaan charge a fee on sales?
Yes. Dukaan’s plan table lists a service fee of 4.99% on Free, 3.99% on Starter, 1.99% on Growth and 0.99% on Infinity, capped at ₹200 an order and not charged on manual orders. Its FAQ adds that the fee is exclusive of payment gateway charges. GoCommerce charges no fee on sales.
How much does Dukaan cost?
Free is ₹0. Starter is ₹299, Growth ₹999 and Infinity ₹5,999 a month billed monthly, or ₹2,500, ₹8,000 and ₹50,000 billed yearly, on Dukaan’s pricing page.
Which payment gateways work on each?
Dukaan lists Cashfree, Razorpay, PayPal and Stripe. GoCommerce has nine payment modules, Razorpay and Stripe among them, and cash on delivery in the core; Cashfree and PayPal are not among its modules.
Can I move from Dukaan to GoCommerce?
There is no Dukaan importer, so moving means a script against GoCommerce’s documented API. The one catalogue importer GoCommerce has is for Shopify.
Can Svelte Commerce be the storefront for a Dukaan store?
No. Dukaan is not among the 26 backends Svelte Commerce connects to. Svelte Commerce reaches GoCommerce through an early connector, 0.1.0, covering catalogue, cart, checkout and order lookup; customer accounts and search are not covered yet.
